Making Daily Log Entries
How to make an entry, what each option does, and the rules for editing.
Which version are you on? If you log in at login.shiftforce.com/sign-in, you're on ShiftForce — follow the first set of steps below. If you log in at ww1.shiftnote.com, you're on classic ShiftNote — scroll to the second set.
What the Daily Log is
The Daily Log is where your managers record what happened on each shift — who called out, what broke, what a guest complained about, how the day went. It's the running record of your operation.
If you're new, write one real entry about today before you set anything else up. It's the fastest way to see how it fits.
Making an entry In ShiftForce
- Open the ShiftNote (daily log) from the main menu.

- Today's date is selected. Use the date arrows to move to another day.
- Select a category that matches your communication topic and click +entry.
- Write your note. Specific beats short: "Walk-in running warm again, third time this month" is useful tomorrow. "Kitchen issues" isn't.
- Attach file, image or short video
- Flag entry to save for later under meeting topics on your homescreen
- Urgent log notes are marked in red
- Click Save

In classic ShiftNote
- Click the Daily Log icon.
- Today's date is the default. Change it with the left/right arrows.
- Click "click to make an entry."
- Choose a category and type your note.
- Add any options below.
- Save.

Making a Daily Log Entry
- Click on the Daily Log icon.
- Today’s date is the default, but can be changed using left/right arrows.
- Click on “click to make an entry”
- Type data into fields.
- Clicking on Urgent will turn entry red and display it under Urgent Log Entries on Home Screen
- Clicking on Flag will make the entry a Meeting Topic
- Clicking on Attach… will allow you to add a document/file to the entry
- If you have more then one location that you have access to and both locations have the same category, you will have the option to post the log entry to more then one location.
- Save your entry. All entries are date and time stamped.
Moving to different date in the Log Entries
- Click on the calendar date on the left menu.
- Advance forward or back using blue arrows.
- Last Year will take you back to the same day last year.
