How to use sections in the Scheduler?

Sections live in the Scheduler settings. To get there:

1. Click the Schedules icon in the left sidebar.
2. Click Settings in the Schedules menu.
3. Click the Sections tab across the top of the page (next to Positions, Workgroups, and Time Periods).

You'll see your current Sections listed on the left, with a count of how many you have, and a Section Name field on the right.

Note: If you manage more than one restaurant, make sure the correct location is selected in the dropdown at the top of the page before you make changes. Sections are set up per location.

1. Go to Schedules > Settings > Sections.
2. Click into the Section Name field on the right side of the page.
3. Type the name of the area, for example Patio, Kitchen, or Bar.
4. Click Add.

The new Section appears in the list on the left right away, and the count next to the Sections heading goes up by one. It's immediately available when you build or edit a schedule.

Tip: Keep names short. Section names show up on the schedule grid, on printed schedules, and in the mobile app, so a one- or two-word name reads best.

 Assign Sections to Positions

A Section only shows up on the schedule once it's linked to a Position. After you create your Sections, assign them to the Positions that work in those areas.

1. Go to Schedules > Settings > Positions.
2. Click the Position you want to update, for example Server.
3. Check each Section that Position can be scheduled in, such as Patio, FOH, and Bar.
4. Save the Position.

Repeat for each Position. A Position can have as many Sections as you need, and a Section can belong to several Positions.

Good to know: Section assignments don't limit shift trades. Employees can trade or pick up shifts for any Position they hold, regardless of which Section the shift is in.
