Setting Up Time Periods

Time periods are the parts of your day you schedule around, like Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner.

Every shift belongs to one, and they're the labels your team sees on the schedule. The scheduler needs at least one, so your account starts with defaults. Edit them to match your real hours before you build your first schedule.

Why they matter

  • They organize the schedule. In Position view, each day is grouped by time period, then by position, so you can see at a glance whether lunch is covered.
  • They show labor by shift. Hours and labor cost can be viewed by time period, so you can tell whether dinner is overstaffed. [confirm where this appears]
  • They make shifts faster to add. When you add a shift, you pick its time period first.

Edit your time periods

  1. Go to Scheduler → Settings → Time Periods.
  2. Click the time period you want to change. [confirm: click the name or an Edit icon]
  3. Update the name and its start and end times. [confirm fields]
  4. Click Save.
